Partly because I don't want to clog up
inboxes with pictures, partly because I wanted a way for my immediate
family to keep tabs on my whereabouts, and partly because I wanted to
see what maintaining a blog would be like, I've decided to keep
this weekly journal of goings-on while in France. |

As most of you know, I was able to finagle a trip to France under
the guise of improving the relationship between Saint-Gobain's
information center in Northborough, Massachusetts and its sister
facility in Provence. Saint-Gobain, being a producer of various
and diverse products made from ceramics, plastics, and glass,
has a number of research efforts worldwide. Of concern here are
the two major centers in the Worcester-Northborough (Worthboro)
campus and a similar yet somewhat smaller French facility called
the Centre de Recherches et D’Études Européen (CREE).
CREE is located on the banks of the Durance and at the base of
the Colline St. Jacques in Cavaillon, a small city southeast of
Avignon. Situated on the border of the rugged Vaucluse region
- gateway to the Alps - and picturesque Bouches-du-Rhône
(Mouth of the Rhône) delta, Cavaillon serves as an ideal
launching point to explore the quaint villages and natural offerings
of Provence.

The chateau in Aureille. |
I’ll
be here for the better part of 13 weeks and most of it will be
spent working, but on weekends and holidays, I’ll do my best to
get out and about. Consequently, not much will be going on for
most of the week, and depending on the weather, not much could
happen at all.
Fine Print
• I’ll do what
I can to make this interesting, but I reserve the right to pull
the plug at any time if I judge it to be lame.
• All material posted will be my own. Pictures will be original
compositions taken with my Walmart digital camera.
• Permission will not be sought from persons appearing on
these pages because they wandered into my pictures.
• Click on a picture to make it bigger.
• French will be used liberally without translation or pronunciation
aids - sorry Brian.
• There will be no pictures of me wearing a beret
and a striped shirt while holding a loaf of bread. Not that it won't happen, just no pictures.
