Another New England summer
came to a close, but the early September weather still
looked promising. Now that the crowds had subsided and
the kids were back in school, it seemed like an opportune
time for a daytrip or two. New England is known for
lighthouses, and we decided to make a small tour of
some of the more accessible ones. After a little homework,
we identified about two dozen that looked worthy of
visiting. So we began our route in Connecticut and wound
up the coast of southern New England over the course
three successive weekends. We ended our tour on Cape
Cod and even made the journey out to Nantucket. Plans
are already being drafted for a similar excursion to
view the northern
New England lights once the Spring thaw arrives. |
